Many colleges, universities and even some law schools post recommended or summer reading lists. Most contain a broad variety of sublists of books you should consider reading, from biographies to legal history to law school survival guides. A few schools even recommend what they think are the best study aids someone who is about to become a first-year law student should read in preparing for Contracts, Criminal Law and other 1L courses.
We wanted to provide you a unique service no one else does -- a collection of these booklists all in one location so you could see what pre-law advisors and law schools recommend you read. Browse these "entire lists" and "sublists" and buy the books (or even entire lists of books with one click!) to read. Please note that most lists contain a few books that are no longer published by their publishers ("Out Of Print"). We decided to list them anyway so you can see what the schools recommend, even if you cannot buy them. And if we don't have a college, university or law school list you know of, email us and we'll be sure to carry it.
One Final Note: as former law school students and now founders of Law Preview, the nation's leading prep course for incoming law students, we decided to get into the act and recommend several Very Best lists ourselves. We hope you find our selections helpful in preparing for law school or providing some good beach reading.
